There are spaceships, the interior of the spacecraft is often curved, and people on board are typically dressed in the same, or similar, outfits. The earth is in ruins, or the alternate planet where the spaceship is headed is also desolate. Although man-made spacecrafts can fly faster than the speed of light, people would maintain absurdly old habits and styles.<\/p>\n
In the spring of 2020, the F\/W runway show for Yeezy Season 8 took place at the Brutalist building of Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer in Paris, at the Communist Party headquarters. Against the backdrop of car horns in lieu of music, the models walked slowly, somewhat awkwardly, around the dome of Espace Niemeyer, the underground auditorium. The main palette was Kanye West’s usual tones of beige, ivory, gray, and white, and the collection was mostly crop-tops, and the bottoms long loose pants. Kanye explained that this line was designed to “dress the service industry – the nannies and housekeepers and chefs.” This sounds more like a pun than a statement since he recently launched the Sunday Service as a part of his project in Wyoming. Perhaps his biggest inspiration for Season 8 was his own massive project. In 2019, Kanye purchased vast and rough land in Wyoming that looks like Mars, covering 4,524 acres, and created his own world in this site. Jedi from the movie Star Wars came to mind. In the original trilogy, the Jedi and Luke Skywalker donned in kendo-type suits, lived on a desert type planet called Tattoine with a domed roof. The Jedi are guardians of peace and justice in the Galactic Republic, who abide by the Jedi Code. They wield lightsabers, dressed in robes that mirror Asian martial arts attire. The word Jedi is thought to have been adapted from Japanese \u6642\u4ee3\u5287 (jidaigeki: ‘period drama’ motion pictures about samurai). Several concepts in this film, such as Jedi, Sith, and Force, were influenced by Eastern ideologies, such as Japanese Bushido, Indian Hinduism, and Zen Buddhism. The Jedi follow the bright side of the Force and maintain inner composure through meditation. Peace not emotion, enlightenment not ignorance, serenity not passion, harmony not chaos, force not death – this is the Jedi’s code.<\/p>\n
Is the present the future of the past?<\/p>\n
In Tao Te Ching, Tao is described as something invisible, inaudible, intangible. As it continues endlessly, it cannot be named, and eventually returns to the world of nothingness. Is time similar to Tao? “You cannot see the head of Tao even though you look from the front, neither its tail while following from behind.” The sun rises and sets, spring, summer, autumn and winter pass, and spring comes again. Perhaps time passes in the form of a connected head and tail. The earth goes round, and so do we. Pascal Quignard had defined our origin as “long ago (“le jadis” in French). The origin from which everything sprang, and the unknown time that has not yet come – in the sense that it is empty, the future and the past resemble each other. The surroundings are empty, the place of living is made of curves, the people all wear similarly simple clothes, and have a quiet time for inner peace.
