CLUMSY'S COMMENT
This is a type of plain-patterned earthenware dating back to the Bronze Age, and has an eggplant-like form on the shoulder, giving its name “eggplant-patterned earthenware”. Although the pattern was made intentionally, it is presumed to have been colored during the baking process, rather than by drawing or engraving. The eggplant pattern resembles fish, or the sun. At the time, humans lives were agriculture-based, so it may have been used as a symbol of abundance and prosperity.
