CLUMSY'S COMMENT

A side-dish box is a container used to carry food. Travelers during the Joseon Dynasty carried their own food, and made various types of side dishes and packed lunches. Side-dish boxes were coated with lacquer and oil to prevent moisture and decay. It is a portable dishware, made to be light and airy. The wealthy used porcelain and high quality wooden side-dishes, while the common people used lunch boxes woven with wicker. Made during the Joseon Dynasty, this wooden-ware side-dish box is rectangular, with a closing mechanism using a door plate wedged from the top to bottom, and a total of four compartments. There is a circular hole on the back that allows the ventilation and conjunction to be pushed forward, and the entire structure is painted. There are flower-shaped decorations and round rings at the top.
