CLUMSY'S COMMENT
“Ggigkyeon” (喫煙) means to “enjoy smoke”. “Jaepan” (灰板) is a wooden tray that collects and arranges smoking tools in one place. In an era when tobacco leaves were smoked in a pipe, a variety of smoking tools such as “yeoncho-hap”, spittoons, ashtrays, and cigarette stands were needed, and the tool with which these equipment were brought together was the “jaepan”. In addition to smoking tools, it was used to organize various daily items. It was located next to the sedentary desk “seoan” (書案) used for reading, and had the function of protecting the floor from cigarette fire damages. It was made easier to hold in movement by drilling a hole around the object, or attaching a finely milled decorative element (“punghyeol” / 風穴).
The corners were made to be fitted into the frame.
